Intro: What Happened During the Hip Golden Years ?
This website has been created to serve as a public record repository for the Hip Santa Cruz History Project (HipSCHP). HipSCHP documents the unique cultural phenomenon that took place in Santa Cruz, California, circa 1964-1970. It also functions as a community engagement tool, in order to draw in more interviews, media and artifacts, and to promote future events.
The stories, media and research contained within the website emerged out of over two decades of story circles that began in 2002.
Dear Friends of the Hip Santa Cruz History Project,
Help cover the web hosting, security, technician maintenance, administrative correspondence and content creation efforts of this volunteer website! Since 2016, Jacob Aman and Golden Stupa Media have been volunteering many hours to establish and grow the archive and host the website. Your financial support will help keep this effort going!
We receive 200-600 unique visitors each month and ~12,000 unique page views a year, and lovely messages from visitors who wish to share and connect with their memories and stories. It has been a useful tool to reconnect old friends who haven’t spoken in many years! In recent years (especially during the pandemic), the amount of traffic has increased. We are happy to see this!
Please consider making a donation to keep this volunteer effort going. Thank you kindly!
